OAP died after nurse gave her Flash cleaning fluid to drink thinking it was orange juice
A PENSIONER died when a nurse gave her Flash cleaning fluid to drink in hospital believing it was orange juice.
The health worker added water to a plastic jug she thought held undiluted squash, it is understood.

A source said the nurse then gave some to the patient, 85, who drank it because she had dementia.
She could not cough it up and the liquid triggered a heart attack, it is believed. She died a week later at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.
A whistleblower said: “The nurse apparently thought a jug had undiluted orange in it but it is believed it was undiluted Flash.
“I’d have thought the solution would have looked strange when water was added but it was 10pm and the lights would have been low.”

Police are investigating the September 23 incident and said that it “remains unexplained”.
The NHS and Care Quality Commission are also investigating.
Another source said: “It is really big. Everyone is being questioned about it, whether they had direct contact with the patient or not.”
