SHOPPERS have shared their confusion after the latest release of 'new 90s' clothing from ASOS, which includes a sparkly, see-through crop top for men.

A Twitter user shared a snap of the cropped t-shirt, slamming the online retailer for releasing items under a nineties name despite them looking nothing like what was fashionable at the time.

The British woman, known as Charlie, wrote on the social media site: "This is not 90s clobber. It was all polo shirts, cargo jeans and a rock hard hair quiffs holding up a nutty hat. Leave it out, ASOS."

Listed under the '90s newness' tag on the ASOS website, the Oversized Cropped Sparkly Mesh T-shirt, stocked in sizes XXS to 3XL, will set potential buyers back £18.

Described as being in the 'current mood' and up to date with 'the latest trends', the product description adds: "The sparkling mesh adds those see-through vibes."

And others are just as confused about the statement piece, describing it and the rest of the new collection a 'shambles' and 'terribly ugly'.

"I'm cringing so hard at this," one woman wrote of the sparkling number. "And I can't believe ASOS named a section in aid of the 90s. Embarrassing."

Another agreed: "This men's newness range on ASOS is a complete shambles."

"ASOS just emailed me about their new 90s range," a man said. "Mesh shirts, crop tops and horrible prints - it's all so ugly."

And a fourth added: "Why are ASOS trying to sell all these crop tops and mesh shirts to men?"

While one woman simply responded: "Please god, ASOS. No more mesh."
